OUR LADY OF VICTORY

Fair Trade Sale Minimize

P&J  will be selling Fair Trade items June 8 and 9.  Look for us after all the masses in/near the Convocation Center. Please note that we will not be selling during July and August.  We will then begin selling on the third weekend of the month in September, which will be September 14 and 15.  If you need something over the summer, give me a call (Rita Rusche, 451-1510) and I will see if I can get it to you.

Our Fair Trade sales help the small farmer co-ops around the world.  Working individually, these farmers struggle to access the international markets while receiving below-market prices.  But when they work together as a co-op, they have economic and political control over their lives.  They get quality training and processing equipment.  They can invest in school supplies, women's programs, and other social development projects, such as clean drinking water and eliminating child labor.

Our inventory includes bagged coffees, teas, cocoas, chocolates and cereal bars.  Prices range from $3 to $8 each.  This is a great bargain over on-line individual purchasing.  Thank you for your support.

Peace and Justice Commission Minimize

The purpose of the Peace and Justice Commission is to establish, facilitate, and review activities and educational programs that promote the principles set forth in the Mission Statement:  "to educate, inform, and call all members of our parish community to a responsible and Christ-like action regarding social, economic, political, environmental, or any other issue that concerns human dignity and the quality of human life worldwide".

Some of the programs include:  Campaign for Human Development, Care Barrels, Christmas in July, The Giving Tree, Tender Mercies, letter writing for Legislative Advocacy, Project 5000, Matthew 25 in conjunction with the Mission Committee, Ribbons for Peace, and other important issues, that include: Fair Trade Coffee Sales, Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets, and support for Dr. Rich Fry’s Medical Mission Trips.

The meetings are always open and we welcome everyone to come, listen and learn.  One person can make a difference!  Can you?
