Archbishop Schnurr: Support and Gratitude for Religious Freedom Suits

This is an unprecedented attack by the government on the freedom to practice one’s religion without government interference…every religious organization and every individual should be concerned that the federal government believes it has the right to force its citizens to violate their conscience.” (Most Rev. Dennis Schnurr, Archbishop of Cincinnati)

Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York and president  of the U.S. Bishops' conference - has written a short book -- maybe some 25 pages -- on religious liberty and human dignity.

Information from the USCCB

On April 12, the Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued a document, "Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” outlining the bishops’ concerns over threats to religious freedom, both at home and abroad.

Why are the U.S. Bishops making such a big deal of the HHS mandate?  Is this just the bishops "playing politics"?  Watch this short two-minute video and find out.  It is narrated by Eric Metaxas and Jennifer Morse.  Mr. Metaxas is the author of a New York Times #1 best selling biography on the life of a prominent Lutheran pastor who opposed Adolf Hitler, and is an expert on how nations can lose their religious liberty.  Dr. Morse is the founder of the Ruth Institute, an organization designed to protect and defend marriage as a lifelong institution between one man and one woman.

Below is a link to a Papel Encyclical called Humanae Vitae.  It is the encyclical behind the Catholic Church's reasoning for its stance on birth control and life.  If you ever wanted to know the reasons the Catholic Church is against contraception then this is the document you will want to take a look at.  There are also some references to the Catechism listed below the link.

HHS Affordable Care Act: A Panel Presentation with Q&A

Two presentations were given on the HHS Affordable Care Act.  Each even included presentations from a panel of experts in the areas of:  moral theology, Catholic social teaching, civil law and its impact on religious institutions, and the Church's teachings on human sexuality.

If you were unable to attend either presentation, the Archdiocese has provided a video of the March 8th event.  Please
